The confrontations you have learned about here were extreme and many took place a long time ago. You may not think they are relevant to your life, but is intolerance a thing of the past? Can you find examples of discrimination today - hate crimes, ethnic jokes, and barriers to the handicapped?
Today laws help protect the rights of all Americans but we must continue to work towards that more perfect union. These laws were set forth in the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
