Teacher Process
Activity 1
Students will select one of the creatures of folklore from the list of four.
1. The New Jersey Devil
2. The Loch Ness monster
3. Big Foot
4. The Abominable Snowman
Using at least two internet search engines or other resources, students will provide a history of the folktale creature. Part of this project is writing, so focus on having them summarize the information.
Students will use bulleted facts, putting the history into PowerPoint with a minimun of five slides. Slides should show some creativity, have them experiment with various forms of media.
Activity 2
Based on what they have learned about the folklore creature they have chosen, students will form an opinion stating whether they think the creature exists or not. They should put their opinion on a PowerPoint slide.
Activity 3
Students will give a short (three to five minute)presentation on the creature they have chosen and their opinion.
