This back in time adventure will require online research using the provided links. In pairs, students will complete a series of tasks by choosing one of the two featured Canadians: an explorer or an aboriginal native. Each person of the pair explores one person.
Students will first read the assigned readings for their person of interest. Next, they will complete a Research Report, which include questions based on the readings. Thirdly, students will draw a map or flag for their explorer or tribe. And lastly, students will create an Inspiration document of their chosen character based on the cultural facts they discovered. All the work is done individually and then pairs rejoin to share what they've each learned and created. Language, culture, occupations, religion, fur trading, art, and exploration are among some of the Canadian material the students will discover.
