Process
Day One:
1. Click on each of the following links and read about the explorers listed below. Be looking for things that interest you or catch your attention about the listed explorers.
2. Decide which explorer you want to “become” and begin to jot down notes about him. (What are they like? What do they want? Goals? Concerns? Etc.)

Day Two:
1. Click on the link below that goes with the explorer you chose yesterday and read about his or her life. Take notes if necessary.
2. Write a short biography of his/her life using the notes from day one and today. (You can go back to day one and click on that link again for more information).

3. Click on the link below and type in the words listed here to find the definitions of each of the following key words.

Write the definitions in your notebook and ways that this will possibly help your chosen explorer in his travels/exploration.

Day Three:
1. Continue to research about your explorer using the following links. Look specifically for his aims, obstacles, and accomplishments.

2. Write 3 short, 1 paragraph, journal entries.
-The first one should explain your goals before you set out on exploration.
-The second one should explain the obstacles you faced during your exploration.
-The third one should explain your accomplishments at the end of your exploration.
Day Four:
1. Click on the links below to find out what routes the early explorers took and why. Take note of the distances they traveled and the different trade routes involved in their travels, if applicable.

2. Write two short, 1 paragraph, journal entries the first one should detail a plan for the routes you will travel on your exploration, and the second one should detail an average day in the life of the traveler (Ex. What are the sleeping conditions? What is the weather like? What type of food are you eating? Etc.)

Day Five:
1.Write a journal entry explaining what land, if any, your explorer claimed and how.
2. Choose a map from below to print (if legal) and include in your journal. You may also use a map that you found during your previous research and/or make illustrations of various maps to include along with keys explaining what land was claimed by whom.
