Let's Get Started!!!
You will be working with a partner, but each person is responsible for completing his or her own worksheet. You will research the solid figures and shapes using the websites provided and your math textbook. Remember, to work with your partner, talking and discussing the various geometric shapes and properties.
Open the following worksheet and work through the mystery sites completing the table for your brochure.
After you complete the worksheet, you will hand it into the teacher so the information can be checked for accurancy. You and your partner will then be assigned one specific geometric shape. You will use all of your information to create a brochure in Microsoft Publisher. Please make sure both "detectives" save the brochures in his or her folder. Once the teacher has graded the saved brochure, a printed copy will be presented by each team. Make sure the cover page of your brochure includes a title and the author's names.
Open and save Solid Figures and Shapes.doc to your folder. Identify all the different shapes, figures, and geometric elements. Write your answer directly into the worksheet saved in your folder. You may need to review them by revisiting the mystery sites.
Also on this worksheet tell where you have seen these shapes at home, at school, and or anywhere around town.
This is where the fun part begins! You and your partner will create a brochure for your assigned geometric shape.
What a great job you have done! After all your detective work, now is the time to present what you have learned to the Sheriff (your teacher) and the police squad (the rest of the class). Hopefully, you will receive a medal for all your hard work.
