Evaluation

The Client will be assessing your work at every meeting and when you have finished the design. The Client is picky and will be assessing your work using this rubric.
You have been chosen for the team because you are all capable of being Senior Designers if you work hard and look carefully below at what the client expects of you.

While The Client is assessing your performance as a team your individual work and effort will be noted for future projects. It is important that you all work hard as a team to perform well because one person's poor efforts will effect you all.

Range and Depth of Idea Generation and Concepts

One conceptualisation strategy was used but superficially and did not contribute to idea and concept generation.
Group has fixated on only one or two concepts and used only one approach. Concepts  unoriginal and obvious.

Conceptualisation strategies have been used but contribute little to idea and concept generation. Group has explored a few concepts and approached task in only one or two ways.
Concepts explored are not very creative.

Some conceptualisation strategies have been used and contribute to idea and concept generation. Group has explored some different concepts and approached task a few different ways. Concepts explored are moderately creative.
A wide range of conceptualisation strategies have been used genuinely to enhance idea and concept generation. Group has explored a diverse range of concepts and approached task many different ways. Concepts explored are highly creative.

Creativity & Ingenuity of Final Design Solution
Final design solution is unoriginal and only uses existing ideas. Research used to copy design ideas. No influences, just replication.

Final design solution is not very creative and uses mostly existing concepts. Research has been attempted thought few ideas are used.
Research influences are few and obvious.

Final design solution is moderately creative and attempts to use new concepts. Research has been used and incorporates some ideas. Research influences are evident but not obvious.

Final design solution is highly creative and Innovative. Research has been broad and incorporates many ideas. Research Influences seamlessly integrated into design.

Functionality & Effectiveness of Final Design Solution Final design solution considers few functional and user issues. The design solves only a few of the identified issues. The design will not or will barely perform its required tasks. Final design solution considers some functional and user issues. The design solves most of the identified issues. The design may perform its required tasks.

Final design solution considers a moderate range of functional and user issues. The design solves the identified issues. The design should perform its required tasks.

Final design solution considers a wide range of functional and user issues. The design solves the identified issues very effectively. The design should perform its required tasks very well.
Appropriateness of Material Selections Few materials have been specified. The material choices are inappropriate and do not consider the functional requirements of the design. The product will not last long. Most materials chosen are unsuitable for the environment of use.

Some materials have been specified. The material choices are satisfactory for some functional requirements and an adequate product lifespan. Most materials chosen are suitable for the environment of use, others are not.

Most materials have been specified. The material choices are reasonable for a range of functional requirements and a moderate product lifespan. Materials chosen are acceptable for the environment of use.

All necessary materials have been specified. The material choices are well specified for a wide range of functional requirements and a long product lifespan. Materials chosen are highly suitable for the environment of use.

Visual and Aesthetic Appeal of Final Design Solution
The design is unappealing, few attempts at styling are made. The functional elements of the prosthesis are the focus of the design. The prosthesis looks rudimentary, like a working prototype. The design has some good aesthetic features, some bad. The design & styling are inconsistent, looking like a collection of different styling ideas. Functional elements are obvious, but some attempts have been made to integrate them into the design. The design looks out of place for the function and context of the prosthesis. The design is moderately aesthetically appealing. The design & styling are mostly consistently applied- a few features look out of place. The design integrates most functional elements well, some are obvious. The design is suitable for the function and context of the prosthesis.  The design is highly aesthetically appealing. The design & styling is applied consistently and is creative. The design integrates functional elements stylishly and seamlessly. The design is well suited to the function and context of the prosthesis.

Quality & Effectiveness of Design Communication
The design communication is poor and does not clearly communicate many of the ideas and concepts. Communication explains few of the elements of the design solution. Communication techniques have been attempted but their execution is of a low quality. The design communication is adequate and communicates some ideas clearly, other are unclear.
Communication explains some elements of the design solution. A few communication techniques have been used and their execution is of a satisfactory quality.

The design communication is good and communicates most ideas and concepts clearly. Communication adequately explains the elements of the design solution. A range of communication techniques have been used and their execution is of a reasonable quality.

The design communication is excellent and communicates ideas and concepts clearly. Communication thoroughly explains all elements of the design solution. A wide range of communication techniques have been used and their execution is of a high quality.

Level of Group Professionalism & Equality of Design Input

Design professional roles not entirely understood and played poorly. Students generally did not stay in their roles during the task. Specialist knowledge shared sometimes but combined poorly by the group. Group dominated by one student, others not contributing much. Input not valued by each other. Final design product is mostly one student's work.

Design professional roles basically understood and played adequately. Students stayed in their roles for some of the task. Specialist knowledge shared sometimes and combined by the group adequately. Group led by some students, others not contributing much. Input generally not valued equally by group. Final design is a product of about half the group.

Design professional roles mostly understood and played well. Students stayed in their roles for most of the task. Specialist knowledge mostly shared and combined by the group reasonably. Most students contributed fairly. Input valued equally by most, but not all group members. The final design is mostly a group product.

Design professional roles are understood and played very well. Students stayed in their roles throughout the task. Specialist knowledge was shared and combined by the group effectively. Students contributed and valued each others input equally. The final design is a genuine group product.

Quality of Design Reflection & Explanation

Reflections upon the design task are shallow and cover few aspects of the task. The explanation of design choices is minimal and few options were considered. The descriptions of the problems encountered and how they solved them is minimal. Any solution seems to have been enough.

Reflections upon the design task are basic and covers some of the aspects of the task. The explanation of design choices is limited and suggests not much thought was used. The descriptions of the problems encountered and how they solved them is limited and suggests few solutions were considered.

Reflections upon the design task are mostly significant and cover most aspects of the task. The explanation of design choices is reasonable and some show thought. The descriptions of problems encountered and how they solved them is reasonably detailed.

Reflections upon the design task are meaningful and cover all aspects of the task. The explanation of design choices is confident and shows thought. The description of problems encountered and how they solved them is quite detailed.
