Students will find their individual and household carbon footprints through a variety of sources. After research on their individual environmental issue, each group will work together to create a podcast that informs and encourages their community to become more environmentally friendly.

Teacher Introduction

This WebQuest is designed for 7th Grade Life Science students.  Through this WebQuest, students are able to go out and explore on their own  about a specific environmental issue and become experts on their topic.  Human impacts on the environment is an important aspect of the Life Science unit that focuses on habitat destruction, deforestation, population disturbances, pollution, and other environmental issues.

Students benefitfrom learning by doing, and that is exactly what is happening throughout this WebQuest.  After each student has gathered all of their necessary information, they come together to complete a group-wide chart addressing problems our environment is facing and solutions to these problems.  They also each find their carbon footprints, and have a discussion about the results they came up with.  Finally, they are able to collaborate to form a "podcast" that will address their community about human impacts on the environment and steps we can take to fixing these problems!
