This is a lesson plan for an assignment for Martin Luther King Jr. Day that allows students to show how they are demonstrating peace in their classroom. There is also a little art project that gives a hands-on opportunity for learning about symbols of peace.

We will be doing this fun activity at beginning of January, before we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day.  It will take a little bit of time to do, but we will be doing in before and after lunch. We will be learning about how different people used to live a long time ago.  Some people were treated really bad and other people were very mean to them. We will read a story and then make a list of how we are showing peace at school.
