Possible Timeline for Explorer Project

Day 1
- Assign Explorers. Students to check out school library books as available.
- Read pages 50-55 of Silver Burdett Ginn Social Studies text as a class.

Day 2
- Read 56-57 together as a class.
- Explain briefly about Webquest process without going into great detail.
- Model the research gathering process with Christopher Columbus, as needed.

|
Day 3
- In Computer Lab, students log on and access Webquest and begin research.
- Teacher explains project expectations and answers questions.
|
|
Days 4-6
- Continue research, complete timeline and map.
- Mini lesson on journal entries with student examples.
- Students write 2 entries.
|
|
Days 7-10
- Complete research.
- Students have complete all 8 entries.
- Teacher monitors and helps to proofread.
|
|
Day 11
- Students finalizing entries. Beginning to bind and embellish journals.
|
|
Day 12
- Students complete rubric, reflection and practice to present.
- Students ready, begin presentations.
|

Day 13-15
- Class presentations and discussion.
