Day 2 - Who are you and where do you fit?

Members of the Third Class ^

Today you will be researching the different kinds of people that boarded the RMS Titanic.  Your teacher will have placed you into groups and together you will find out everything you need to know about the type of person you are.  The different kinds of people are listed below:

1. First Class Passengers

2. Second Class Passengers

3. Third Class Passengers

4. Deck Crew

5. Engine Crew

6. Ship's Orchestra

(While this isn't a complete list of the people on board, the people listed played important roles before, during, and after the sailing of the ship.)

Members of the Second Class ^

What do you need to know about each type of person on the ship?

- Their place of work (if any) and general income information

- Their clothing

- Their lifestyle outside the Titanic

- Their attitudes about society

- Their lifestyle while on board the Titanic

- Did they survive the sinking of the ship? If not, why? If so, how?

- Where they slept and ate on the ship

- How they were treated both on and off the ship

- Their role or job on the Titanic (if they had one)

The information that you find will guide you into creating your own passenger and personality who will board the RMS Titanic.  Make a character sketch of your person, give them a name and age.  Draw a picture of your person and identify why you chose specific detail about them.

Day 3 - All Aboard!

Second Class Members Boarding the Titanic^

Today is the day! You are filled with anticipation as you gaze upon the beauty that is the RMS Titanic! Depending on your created personality, you must go through a different process of entering ship. Also depending on that information, you must eat, sleep, and socialize in a different part of the ship.

Second Class Single Berth ^

Third Class Cabin ^

Using the information collected in Day 2, create a list of activities, meals, and places on the ship that apply to you.

Prepare some situations that you may encounter and how you may react and interact in those situations.

Finally, think about the sinking of the ship and how it affects you.  Will you be able to survive? Is there a lifeboat available to you? What will you do?

You have been transported back in time! All the way back to April 10th, 1912.  The RMS Titanic is departing the dock and you need to find your place on board!

While on board, you need to remember your place and how you need to act

Be careful who you speak to, be careful where you go, and think before you do anything.

When the ship starts to sink, what do you do? Who do you turn to for help? Do you receive help?

Write a reflective journal entry describing your experiences, actions, and feelings about your experience on board the Titanic. Do you feel that it was fair the way that people were treated based on their socio-economic status? Do you feel that it was fair that only certain classes of people were saved from the ship?
