Process
First, in your groups, decide which country you will research from the list and okay it with your teacher to be sure that every group has chosen a different country. To help you chose, click on the picture of the country you're interested in to find out a bit of information about each!
Then, decide what type of information you will want to search for. Remember the fields we brainstormed as a class for our database: the average pay for women, typical jobs for women in that country, whether or not women have the right to vote and when they got that right, whether or not women can own property, whether or not women can receive equal education compared to men, women's role in religion, and laws concerning women. You may also decide that you want to look for other information.
When searching, be sure to consider the source of your information. Does the source seem to be reliable? Check for typos, translations that seem to make no sense, etc. What is the source of your information? Is it from a regular person with no apparent expertise on the subject? Is it opinion or fact? Only use information that you feel is from reputable, trustworthy sources. Newspapers, organizations like Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International, the US State Department, and research done by universities and scholars are good places to look. Be sure to judge whether or not the info is opinion or fact!

Next, access the class database and plug in the information you found for your country. If you couldn't find a particular piece of info, just type N/A for not applicable.
Finally, create a PowerPoint with your group members. Your PowerPoint needs to:
- be informative and include all of the information you gathered
- include any quotes you find relevant to your country. Be sure to give credit to whomever said your quote, or wherever you got your statistics and information.
- well-designed with appropriate graphics, pictures
- have links to web sites about the information you discuss
- include a map of the country
- have a Works Cited page, where you list all of the works you used in your research, This is to avoid plagarism, or claiming someone else's work and ideas as your own. (There will be links to help you with PowerPoint and the Works Cited.) be sure to follow instructions carefully and ask me if there is something you are unsure of.
