Phase I: Cooperation
Becoming an Expert!
Working in your Collaborative group, each student is required to:
- Complete the Area of Expertise sheet that corresponds with your specialty: Reproduction, Digestion, Respiration, History or Habitat
- Using our Resource Rating Sheet, post 2 comments on our Life Science with Lovett blog or Mrs. Reisbeck's Life Science blog containing your favorite resources (note: if someone else has already posted one of your chosen resources, you must instead create an annotation to be included for that resource)
- Complete The Participation Rubric rating the contribution of yourself and each Collaborative group member upon the conclusion of Phase I.
Phase II: Collaboration
Animalia Conference!
- Learning – complete the "Putting it Together" note sheet as your group members each present the area of expertise that he/she specialized in.
- Teach – you will have a turn to educate your group members about your specialty.
You must present:
- Information from your area of expertise research sheet
- Plan to teach for at least 5 full minutes.
Phase III: Competition
Creating an "All About My Class" Podcast
Lights! Camera! Action!
Working with your Cooperative Group, each student must now choose a role from the list below. Once your roles are chosen, you will begin the process by with the "podcast planning sheet" sheet and the "storyboard template". These must be completed before you start filming!!! These sheets will start you on the process of creating a 2-5 minute "All About my Class" video presentation demonstrating the qualities of your class of the Animal Kingdom. Your group will compete against other cooperative groups for the prestigious "Carolus Cup" and a position on the ARK Design Team.
- Director – responsible for assigning homework to self and group members to keep on track, must fill in for any other position where a group member may be absent.
- Screenwriters – responsible for the organization of the podcast, creating the order of material presented, creating the script for those on camera.
- Set Designers – responsible for choosing the places, props and educational materials featured on camera. This may include color photos, classroom white board and computer clips.
- Special Effects – this is the computer editor responsible for the editing, creative visual and audio effects of the final video product. Familiarity with the program iMovie is important.
- Camera Technician – responsible for the equipment, power, use, and treatment of all technology used for final presentation. This role also serves as Assistant to the Computer Editor
