This webquest is designed for a comparative analysis of the genocides of Native Americans and the Jewish population(s) in Europe during WWII.
Teacher Introduction
This is an activity that allows students to make use of critical and higher level thinking skills to arrive at a comparative judgment using supporting evidence. The lesson addresses content standards 11.7 Students analyze America's participation in World War II:
5. Discuss the constitutional issues and impact of events on the U.S. home front, including the internment of Japanese Americans (e.g., Fred Korematsu v. United States of America) and the restrictions on German and Italian resident aliens; the response of the administration to Hitler's atrocities against Jews and other groups. At the same time it allows students to examine similar events separated by time and place; historical issues that are relevant to their own country's historical legacy.
