Each group will be made up of four young scholars. After each person in your group chooses a type of government from the list provided, you will Jigsaw, with each of you joining students from other groups, in researching the same government type.
After completing the research, you will return to your original teams and share your government information. You should discuss, and show in graphic organizers, such as T-charts, the positive and negative points of each type of government. Then, as a group, discuss which type of government would be best for your new country. Next, prepare a Powerpoint presentation to persuade your superior to recommend your chosen government to the people. Also, write a newsletter sharing your findings on each government and your recommendations to the people, based on those findings. In choosing a government type, you should consider and answer the following questions:
1.)What are the conditions under which the new government is being formed?
2.) What will the title and role of the new leader be, and how will the leader be chosen?
3.) What conditions (if any) will be put in place to limit the power and control of the new leader?
4.) What may some of the challenges be in attempting to join people from many various backgrounds under one government?
5.) What role would a military organization play in the country? What security measures will need to be taken?
6.) How will internal security be addressed?
7.) How will laws be developed and adopted?
Once you, as a team have decided on a type of government to present, the following tasks should be assigned:
Project Manager- Responsible for developing the idea and layout of the Powerpoint presentation to your superior.
Research Editor- Responsible for providing research information for and suggestions of what to include in the Powerpoint presentation and the newsletter.
Graphic Artist- Responsible for providing graphics, pictures, etc. for the Powerpoint presentation and the newsletter.
Journalist- Responsible for the idea, layout, and production of the newsletter
