Teacher Process

  1. In partners or groups of 3, the student will visit at least 3 of the pre-approved web pages each and read about self-esteem.
  2. Some things they may want to look for while navigating in the web pages are the meaning of self-esteem, the difference between positive and negative self-esteem, the benefits of positive self-esteem, analyze if the student tends to have positive self-esteem, and how one can gain positive self-esteem.
  3. Once the students have finished looking into their 3 web pages, they will return to their group and discuss what they have learned.
  4. The students will write a 1-2 page report on what they have learned.
  5. If time permits and if they would like, the students can share their findings with the class.

This lesson is designed to take one or two class sessions.  The research on the Internet should take a class session and the report may take another session, depending on how long the student takes to write his/her report.  Often times, we do not even have one session to dedicate to "other" curriculum, so the report can be done for homework.  Other ways you may want to adapt this lesson, is to have each group research a total of 3 web pages per group or do this as a whole group lesson.
