Amazing…but true!

Which animal is considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa ?  The lion?  The tiger?  Well, guess again.  The hippopotamus is surprisingly viewed as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa .  As a matter of fact, killing more than 400 people tops any other wild animal in Africa .  Also, they can open their mouths up to four feet wide.  That’s big enough for a child to fit in, STANDING UP!

Hippos are not the only misunderstood animal in Africa , or anywhere else in the world, for that matter.  Looks can be deceiving, or tricky.  Janell Cannon is the author of Pinduli, one of several of her books about animals that have this very problem.  Read the book, complete the activities, and learn for yourself about more amazing animals!
