Process

You have already read some poetry and have a basic understanding about what it is.  However, knowing who creates it and how they do so can be really interesting.

For this first part you (and your partner if you have one) will choose one of the following poets and answer questions 1-4 on her or him.

Click on a picture and it will take you to this person's page on answers.com, you may need to click on some of the links on answers.com for more information.

1.)   Where and when was this person born?

2.)  Did this person write other things besides poetry?

3.)  Name one of this person's important works.

4.)  What is one interesting thing you learned about their life?

Jack Kerouac is one of my favorite writers.  He belonged to something called the beat generation.  Look on the sites listed
to see if you can answer the following questions.

1.)  What is the beat generation and in what years were they writing?  (Should be about a paragraph)

2.)  Name two other writers besides Jack Kerouac to be labeled beat poets.
