This Webquest asks students to investigate websites using standard criteria to determine whether the site provides valid, usable information.

Cyber cranks have been on the loose creating fake websites.  Meanwhile, millions of people are creating websites about their hobbies.  They are filling up their webpages with what they know about astronomy, ancient history, American history, geology, and so on.  At the same time, your fellow students are desperately sifting through many thousands of websites to find good information.  The teacher is going to know if the information in a report is wrong.  How is a poor student supposed to know whether the information on a website is right?  Enter you, cyber detective.  You are an expert on finding good websites, and your talents were never more needed.
