Teacher Introduction

This Webquest is designed specifically for Year one learners, but could easily be utilised with Year two and three. It addresses the social challenges of bullying and making friends which are highly relevant at this stage. The initial task is to form small groups where individuals each adopt a specific role in researching the issue of bullying. Ultimately, they develop a story for a short video and act it out.

One of the greatest needs of primary age children is that of social skills and making friends. It is also clear that there are issues even from Year One of bullying, harassment and anti-social behaviour. This webquest seeks to address this need and provide a positive focus on student interaction within the school.

Finding web material on bullying for kids is not difficult. However, finding material that younger students can read easily is difficult. Consequently, this quest is a simplified version of my original having learned from my earlier errors. I have also sought to provide greater structure for teachers wanting to implement this quest by including instructions for teachers in red italics. (See 'teacher process')
