Teacher Process
The process delineated in the student section should provide enough direction in order complete the assignment. Since this unit deals with a culture about which little is known, some pre-teaching may be required. The unit touches upon a writing system that students are not familiar with, a calendar that may seem confusing at first, and conceivably some misconceptions created by the unfortunate appearance of the movie "Apocalypto." It may be necessary to provide some context from the standpoint of history, geography and agriculture.
