Teacher Process

This is an ongoing process that will start at the bottom of the cognitive level of knowledge and it will take you to the Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation levels.  It has a Constructivist approach to teaching with some cooperative learning strategies.

Steps

Subordinate Skill

Entry Level Skill

Knowledge

1 – Plant the Akulikuli in the control environment (soil) and the hydroponics environment.

Define the conditions that create a hydroponics environment. Research this information.

Recall the 4 basic needs for life: sun, air, food, and shelter or a habitat.

Knowledge

2 – Measure and record the numeric growth of the plants in Science journal.

Define if growth is measured by the length of stem or the accumulation of leaves or both.

Must be able to read a ruler using centimeters as the unit of measurement.

Comprehension

3 – Describe in words the growth of the plants. Science journal

Translate the numeric figures into statements reflecting plant’s growth.

Must be able to write a complete sentence.

Application

4 – Apply the numeric growth to a graph.

Demonstrate the ability to create a graph with data.

Must have prior experience to create a graph. (tutor)

Analysis

Synthesis

5 – Discuss causes - difference in growth of both plants

6 – Write a conclusion statement to question.

Debate the cause  and effect of hydroponics/soil. Relate back to original hypothesis.

Were you correct? Why or why not?

Must be able to write a paragraph support w/ evidence.

Must be able to write a paragraph and support with evidence.

Evaluation

7 – Develop a generalization based on findings.

Compare and contrast the hydroponics and control plant.

Must be able to write a generalization with concise statements.
