Advanced Planning:

Students should spend a reasonable amount of time viewing the websites and answering the questions. It is expected each worksheet would take a day to complete. Therefore, this WebQuest will take a week to cover.

Teachers may download and print the worksheets prior to class.

Clearing Up a Cloudy Issue

Learning the Names of the Players

Finding Dew Point

Making Your Own Cloud in a Bottle

How High's the Sky

Students will need a clear, 2-liter bottle with lid, matches, and warm water. A source of warm water will be necessary.

CAUTION: Making the cloud requires lighting a match, getting the smoke inside the bottle, and dropping the match into the bottle. Teachers should supervise or do this activity for each child.

Teachers should download the instructions on graphing the temperature drop with increasing altitude. Students should also be given a brief lesson on Excel or similar spreadsheet application. An introduction on chart making would be helpful. An answer sheet is included to help the teacher.

The larger you can stretch the chart, the better it will look and the easier it will be to read the chart.
