Process

 Step 2:  Comma Usage

Students have a tendency to misuse commas.  Review the rules for comma usage in Keys for Writers.  Then take this quiz to test your knowledge.

Step 3:  Take a break from grammar problems.  Open the link to the poem "Pride."    PRINT THE DOCUMENT.   Read "Pride" and answer the questions. You may work with one partner, discussing the questions to come to a consensus.

Step 4:  Are you ready for a challenge? As a high school student, I always struggled with the correct use of apostrophes.  See how well you do on this apostrophe quiz.  Reminder:  Keys for Writers is a great resource for correct grammar usage!

 Step 5:  Correct pronoun use plagues students.  Pronoun problems often cause students to lose points on writing projects and tests.  Demonstrate your proficiency with pronouns on these interactive quizzes.  Please note that there is a review link that you may use before or after the quiz. 

Step 6:  Phew!  You've been working hard on grammar today.  Look at these pictures of wolves and their packs.  Some anthropologists believe that early humans formed societies modeled on wolf packs.  Wolf packs have specific roles for each member, and a strict heirarchy for leadership.  How do you think Hudson High School is like a wolf pack?  Compare and contrast a wolf pack with the Hudson High School student body, using at least 3 ways Hudson High School students may be compared and contrasted with wolf packs.  Remember to turn in your work for credit!

STEP 7:  PROCEED TO THE EVALUATION AND PRINT THE RUBRIC.  PUT YOUR NAME ON THE RUBRIC AND PLACE IT ON TOP OF YOUR WORK.  STAPLE THE RUBRIC AND YOUR WORK TOGETHER, AND TURN IN YOUR PACKET.
