Many US History (Grade 11) students are familiar with the atrocities against the Jews during World War II. However, they are not always presented with the idea that Japanese-Americans suffered similar persecution in the United States during the same time period. Pinole Valley High School is an incredibly diverse community, and it is important that its juniors develop an awareness of our nation's past - even when it's not always positive.
This webquest is intended for all students in an 11th grade college preparatory US History class. It might be modified to suit standards for 12th grade college preparatory Government by including more information about the various legal cases tied to the topic - notably 1944's Korematsu vs. United States.
