Teacher Introduction

When teaching a very long and sometimes drawn out story such as the Grapes of Wrath, it is important to instill within the students a sense of history. Steinbeck wrote this classic novel with the intention of exposing to the world to what the media couldn't possibly display, the displacement of thousands of lives due to a weather condition out of their control. This lesson is designed to really immerse students into the mind set of the migrant by connecting the novel to a possible real life situation.
