Process
1. Your classroom teacher will pick a few of your friends to work together as a small group. Before you begin, ask your teacher for your tally sheet and glue it in your journal. Bring a pencil and get ready to look at some animals on the Internet.
2. Now you are ready to begin. You can find some pictures of animals here:

When you see an animal, talk with your friends and your teacher about what type of animal you think it is? Is it an animal that lives on a farm; an animal that lives in the jungle; or an animal that lives in the ocean? Then place a tally mark on your sheet in the correct area to keep count of the type of animals you see. When you're finished looking at the animals, count the tally marks in each category.
3. Help your teacher create a graph by telling her how many animals you saw in each category. Count along with your teacher when your teacher is creating the bars for the graph. Then talk about which category of animals has most, least animals.
4. Draw your favorite animal and label it.
