Teacher Process
Not only does the Ancient Egyptian Journey webquest cover Social Studies, but also Language Arts standards as well. Students will also learn to use their social and technological skills to complete the project! The students will be divided into groups according to class size and the amount of computers available. They will be given a topic and are to research their topic thoroughly through the websites and images given. Students can write down or print out the information found and, along with the group, create a papyrus pamphlet that includes informative and creative writing, pictures, facts and statistics about Egypt. Depending on how in depth you as the teacher want the students to go, this could take 30 minutes of research and 45 minutes of creating the pamphlet, to a half day or a one week project. You may want to use "Social Studies" time each day during one week if this becomes a major project in your classroom. Students will love it because they are able to use the computer to learn and also have fun!
