The purpose of this WebQuest is to familiarize students with the ancient civilizations of Peru, the Incan Trail and Machu Picchu. This is an archeological perspective as well as a historical look at one of the most exciting finds of an ancient civilization.

Introduction

     This is an exciting opportunity to experience an archeological trip without leaving your classroom.  You will explore the ancient culture of Machu Picchu, research the rich history of this extinct culture and plan your own trip to the wonderful world of exploration of the Incan Trail in Peru.

Your mission will be to investigate the disappearance of Machu Picchu after researching its history and geographic location.  Perhaps you can be the next explorer to finally put an end to the mysterious disappearance of this ancient culture and write your place in history with the answer to the age old question.  Where did they all go?
