The Incan Trail
Phase one will be to navigate through websites to gather historical and geographical information about the Incan Trail and
Machu Picchu
the lost civilization. A scavenger hunt work packet will be provided to each student with the information students are to research including maps. This is an independent work study, however, I encourage you to help your neighbor when you can.
Phase two will be to navigate to a website that will give students information about planning an archeological trip to
Peru
to hike the Incan Trail in search of
Machu Picchu
. Students will create a travel itinerary including expenses, and list of necessary equipment and tools. A worksheet will be provided. This is an independent work assignment, however students are encourage to help your neighbor if needed.
Phase three students will write a one to two page creative writing essay. Students will be given a choice of two topics for this essay. 1. In the
Temple
of the High Priest over 130 skeletons were found, 109 of them were women. Write a creative piece with a theory about the skeletons and why 109 of them were women. 2. There are many theories about the disappearance of the ancient civilization
Machu Picchu
. Write a creative essay of your own theory of the disappearance of
Machu Picchu
. This essay can be fantasy or fiction, please take a creative, and imaginative account of your theory. Work independently, however if you need to discuss your thoughts creatively with a fellow students please do.
