This is an Underground Railroad "scavenger hunt." First they students learn the general information about the "railroad." Next they are able to create their own "route to freedom" and find out how very far they have to travel. The students then get to know a person who was influential to the Underground Railroad.

The Underground Railroad

        Jump in your time machine!  We are heading back to the 1800's and taking a trip on the "Underground Railroad."  Be warned!  This is a long and risky journey.  This adventure, however hard, shows just how horrible life as a slave was.  Thousands put their lives in danger, with their eye on one prize: freedom.  Hurry along before you get caught!
