This WebQuest was designed to introduce students in the first grade to six different apple varieties and their uses through completion of a chart, tasting of apples, and creating their own apple book.

Teacher Introduction

This WebQuest was designed for first grade students and should be used as part of an integrated unit on apples.  The book Apples, Apples, Apples, written and illustrated by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace, is the basis for the search that asks students to help the characters Pip and Minna search for the best variety of apples.  Students explore apple orchards and learn about the different varieties of apples and their uses through completion of an activity sheet and making their own apple book. 

When completed, students will have identified six varieties of apples along with facts about each one, determined their personal favorite using online research and an actual tasting activity, and helped Pip and Minna decide which apples they should use.
