Teacher Process
Teachers:
- Students may not have noticed the trends of weather typical of a season. To help establish background information about the current season, discuss things such as signs of the season, the class daily weather chart, and recurring symbols for weather they have recorded.
- Review the names of the seasons. Clarify names such as fall and autumn that have the same meaning.
- Introduce this lesson by explaining to your students that they will be going to the computer lab to complete various activities about the weather and clothing. (Most students at this age get very excited about going to the computer lab.)
- Divide the students into four groups, with four students to a
group. If there are more students than 16, then divide each of
the groups as equal as possible, with at least four students to a group.
- It would be very helpful if there are at least four computers in
the classroom, and the four groups can share each one. If a
computer lab is available, then seat the groups next to each other when
they are at their individual computers.
- Explain to the students how to use the webquest, including going from introduction, task, process, and conclusion.
- Explain how to click on the links and complete the activities.
- Help the students understand that they are to be learning together and aiding each other throughout this process.
- If going to the computer lab, be sure to bring the box of clothing (see resources) and the worksheets.
- After the students have completed process 1, inform them of the box of clothing and to SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!
- After the "fashion show," provide the students with the end worksheet. Grade them on this worksheet according to the provided evaluation rubric.
- A show and tell activity will conclude this webquest.
