This is a webquest for a 4th-6th grade English class that is doing a unit on Great Britain. As a closing activity for the unit, students will divide into groups and each group will research a British holiday. On the last day of the unit, groups will present on their holiday and bring food/activities/music for a British-themed party.

Teacher Introduction

This Webquest is part of a unit for grades 5-6 about Great Britain.  I am using this Webquest as a closing activity.  I will assign the Webquest at the beginning of the unit so the students can work on it thoughout, and then on the last day of the unit the students will make their presentations and we will have our party.  By completing the Webquest and seeing the presentations, the students will learn about four holidays, three of which they have probably never heard of.  They will also get some practice at doing research, and they will learn that most holidays have interesting history and symbols.  The culmination of the activity on the last day will be something the students will have looked forward to and will be a fun way to end the unit.
