Process

1.  The class has been divided into groups of three.

2.  In your group of three, please decide who will be studying:

        FISH                  AMPHIBIANS               REPTILES

3.  If you cannot decide which animal you would like to study, click on one of the above animal pictures.

4.  Now that you have decided which animal class you would like to study, you need to choose one particular species of a fish, amphibian, or reptile (such as a seahorse, bullfrog, or green sea turtle).

5.  You may choose any animal species that you would like, as long as it is in the animal class that you are studying.

6.  Click on the animal picture below if you would like a few ideas!

        FISH                      AMPHIBIANS             REPTILES

7.  Now that you have chosen your animal species, USE THE LINKS that are listed be in the CREDITS section to find 5 adaptations for your animal.

8.  You should type your animal’s adaptations using an Inspiration document.  Create a cluster diagram.

9.  Please be sure to list the adaptations and explain their functions or why the adaptations are important for the animal’s survival.

10.  You must type your resources in your Inspiration document.

11.  Print your Inspiration document when you are finished.

12.  With your other two animal researchers, compare your adaptations of a fish, amphibian, and reptile.  Do these animals have similar adaptations?  Printout the following Paint document and compare your findings.

13.  After you have compared your adaptations with your animal researchers, choose one adaptation that you would like to display.

14.  Create a sketch or three-dimensional sculpture of your one animal adaptation.

15.  If designing a three-dimensional sculpture, you may use any medium (art supplies) of your choice.  It may be fun to use clay, playdough, toothpicks, or pipe cleaners!

16.  Finally, write a one-paragraph description about your animal and its adaptation.
