This webquest is designed to give students background knowledge on Florida history from the late 1800s through the early 1900's, the history of the Cracker culture, and the vocabulary used by the Crackers.
I designed this for my students who are about to read the novel "Strawberry Girl" by Lois Lenski. This book takes place around the turn of the century when cattle roamed free, children attended school in a one room schoolhouse, and people known as Crackers depended on their land to survive.
The assignments are based on critical thinking skills in which students will be recalling, translating, and creating.
