Teacher Process

The project is designed to take about four days with fifth grade students. At least two days will be dedicated to the computer lab. I have reserved the lab for all four days so students will have ampleopportunity not only to research, but to word process their research and find pictures on-line.

They will also need classroom time to put together their menu. In addition to computers, the students will need the usual supplies of construction paper, markers, glue sticks and ribbon or brads to hold the menu together.

If you are lucky enough to have a bank of computers in your classroom, you might be able to structure the time differently.

This project could easily be adapted to become a group project instead of an individual project. Each person in the group could research a different area and then put it all together into a “men.” (jigsaw). Doing this as a group project is a good idea if you can’ t dedicate as much time to it or if you don’t have as much computer access time.
