Teacher Process
Time:
Approximately two weeks for the Web Quest.
-The Web Quest research should take about 5-6 class periods (60min. ea.)
-The poems should take about 2 class periods
-The presentations should take about 4-5 mins each from getting situated to taking questions from peers. So depending on your student's needs and how many you have, it should take about 2-3 class periods.
-If you follow the Web Quest with the report of information, you could start the report as soon as the research is done if you use Reader's/Writer's Workshop models. Otherwise, it depends how you teach report writing as to how long the report piece will take.
Problem Solvers:
-Not enough computer lab time?
The research for this Web Quest could be done using textbooks, biographies, trade books, or encyclopedias if you do not have ample time for internet acess.
-No printer for photos?
Have students illustrate the person they are researching.
-Students don't have access to print at will?
Run off copies before they begin.
