Teacher Process
This project will take several weeks to achieve, depending on your access to computers or your computer lab.
Programs needed are
1. Kidspiration for planning and the writing process. A good jumping off program for the thinking process.
2. Kid Pic for typing and illustrating. This program is easy for young children to master and use. They have a great deal of success and do not get frustrated using it.
You will need to take time in the classroom to prepare the children before going to the lab. Using an Averkey is also helpful in showing the children what they need to do prior to the time in the lab. This is especially helpful if it is the first time the children use the programs.
The biggest challenge is the time element needed in the writing process in the room. I plan at least two sessions of at least an hour for the writing portion of the story. It is helpful to have another adult in the room when this process is occurring.
