by Shannon Baker, Brockport High School
In this webquest, students in Level II Spanish will work with two other classmates to create a scrapbook with narrations about a recent vacation that they have taken through a Spanish-speaking country in South America. The scrapbook may be presented in either paper or PowerPoint format, utilizing travel vocabulary, culturally accurate locations and information, and past-tense narration with both preterite and imperfect tenses in Spanish. They will work to create the most attractive and impressive travel account that will be chosen as the travel plan for next year's Spring Break trip offered by the school!
Teacher Introduction
If you could choose, which South American country would you visit? Need some ideas? Let your students present the best ideas to you! This webquest is designed to accompany a level 2 unit on travel, South American culture, and the preterite and imperfect tenses in Spanish. In this activity, students will be able to work both independently and cooperatively to explore a Spanish-speaking country, develop a feasible travel plan for a trip they have recently taken, and create a narrated travel log in Spanish about the vacation. They will be presenting their vacation details in Spanish to you, other Spanish teachers, and Spanish students so that everyone can vote on the destination for a Spring Break vacation that will be planned next year. Explore, and enjoy!
