Plant Life Cycle

Step 1:  Make a journal. Each page needs space for a picture and room to write what you have noticed that day.

• Draw and color a picture of your favorite plant on the front of your journal .

Step 2:   Investigate the parts of a plant.

Find out:

1. What are the main parts of a plant?
2. What does a plant need to survive?
3. What are plants used for?
4. Name at least 4 different plants.
5. Why are plants so important to our earth?

Step 3 Complete your journal.

• This will be done over a months time or until your plant has fully grown.
• Draw a picture of any changes you see in your plant.
• As your plant begins to grow measure it and write it in your journal.

Step 4  Create a series of 3 pictures that show the parts of a plant and how the plant grows.

• Label at least 4 parts of the plant, stem, roots, leaf, flower or fruit.

Step5  Create an art project of your favorite plant. 

• Be creative and use a variety of materials. ie.  tissue paper, fabric, egg cartons, pipe cleaners, water colors, paints, chalk.
