Process
Step 1
How can you tell that you are really going to experience your specific weather condition?
There are always signs that a severe weather condition is going to happen. Sounds and environmental clues are things to look for when determining if severe weather is approaching.

*Click on your weather condition to read clues that your severe weather condition gives before it arrives.
*What are five clues
that help you predict severe weather? These will be in the letter that is written to your friends. Use the sheet given to you called "Getting ready for severe weather" to write down your clues.

Step 2
It is important to be prepared for severe weather! There are many different survival kits that can be used for severe weather. Here are some examples that are commonly used. Then, make your own survival kit for the weather condition that you are going to experience by clicking on "make your own."

After you click on "make your own," write down the five survival tools that you are going to use on your "getting ready for severe weather" sheet.
Step 3
Now that you have written down the five clues that you were given about your severe weather and five survival tools, it is now time to write a letter to your three friends.
First, click on the link that says "An example of a friendly letter." This will give you an idea about how a friendly letter is written.

Next, use the link called "My weather letter" and use the website "Readwritethink" to develop your letter. Use the addresses given to you in step 1 and the real names of your classmates when writing your letter.
*** Remember to go to the evaluation and look at the rubric before you begin to write your letter. Then, print out the rubric and sign your name at the top when you have checked that everything has been completed. This is important because it tells you how your letter will be graded.***
Finally, hand in your printed letter and self-evaluated rubric.
