Unit activities to supplement the reading of the play: The Diary of Anne Frank
Introduction

Welcome to The Diary of Anne Frank Web Quest! This quest is designed for you to explore the many facets of Anne Frank’s life and her experiences as an adolescent living through one of the darkest times in our world’s history during World War II. Through this quest you will better understand the courage and heroic sprit of Anne Frank as well as others who endured the Holocaust
Anne Frank experienced World War II’s impact first hand. She and her family hid in a Secret Annex in order to avert the Gestapo and avoid being placed in one of the many concentration camps in Europe. She and her family lived in constant fear of discovery. Anne was forced from her home because of her race. As she looked out her window she could see soldiers walking the streets. As Anne began to mature physically into a young adult her outlook on life and people began to change. She never really understood why she and her family were being persecuted for their race and often wrote down her thoughts in a diary. Today, this diary has been translated into 50 languages and is read by millions of people every year.
You will complete a series of tasks in order to research the life of Anne Frank found on various web sites. After you have completed these tasks and have read the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, you will complete a formal five-paragraph essay discussing how Anne Frank is heroic.
