Students will play the roles of diplomats looking for solutions to an international incident in Turkey. They will spend 12 weeks researching cultural similarities and differences related to the incident. They will then plan and hold a peace conference to help resolve conflicts that negatively impact tourism. Finally, they will use documentary media to record their results.

A Turk has won the Noble Peace Prize! Can you believe it? It's Snow by Orhan Pumak. Many Americans think that I am crazy to want to visit the Middle East. The first reaction I normally get is…. “You’re going where? But, it’s not safe there.” It is as a cyber-tourist.

We will begin our tour of Turkey and its culture and people by reading the book and taking a 12 week journey as cyber-tourists. After that we will plan a peace conference where we will explore the book's themes face-to-face. All Turks, Arabs and Westerners are welcome to join us on our voyage.
