This Webquest is about “Creating a Digital Portfolio.” The goal is for students to learn about the uses and importance of digital portfolios and how to create them. They will also learn methods of selecting what products to be part of their portfolios and about hardware and software to enhance them. Products refers to work that students have created and accomplished and can be presented digitally in a multimedia format, which could include things like research papers, images, photos, blogs, podcasts, wikis, webquests, and hyperlinks.

Teacher Introduction

When I chose to do this assignment of "Creating a Digital Portfolio" for one my master's degree courses in educational technology, I had the thought that portfolio was just another word for resume.  But as I learned from the research I did to create this Webquest, I realized that a digital portfolio is potentially much more.  At face value, it's a digital record of your accomplishments, anything that you have created or performed that can be downloaded, uploaded, scanned, copied, printed, digitized and presented on a computer.  But as I pointed out in my introduction, a digital portfolio is a personal history, mapping your growth as an individual, and it constantly evolves to reflect your thinking, values, character, and commitment.  It makes you reflect on who you are and what you want to be.  So it's not just for students but for everyone.
