During this WebQuest the students will read different samples of fantasy and science fiction,and then collaboratively write their own fantasy/science fiction short stories. While they are reading and writing they will learn the different elements of the fantasy and science fiction genres.
Introduction
Have you seen the Star Wars movies? Or the Lord of the Rings? Perhaps you have read the Harry Potter series? These are examples of genres that seem to be ignored in the English classroom: science fiction and fantasy. Since these two genres have been, to some extent, overlooked, this WebQuest is designed to help open your eyes to the magical realms of fantasy and science fiction. But wait, there's more! Not only will you learn about the genres, but you will also create your own original version of a science fiction or fantasy story!
