During this WebQuest the students will read different samples of fantasy and science fiction,and then collaboratively write their own fantasy/science fiction short stories. While they are reading and writing they will learn the different elements of the fantasy and science fiction genres.

Teacher Introduction

This is an original lesson designed with the intention of promoting the use of non-standard genres in the classroom. It allows the students to learn about the genres of science fiction and fantasy  and also about the genre of fiction itself. The students will leave this WebQuest with a newfound knowledge of science fiction and fantasy, and have the opportunity to use that knowledge and their creative impulses to collaboratively complete an original story based upon these genres and their sub-genres.
