We plan on creating an alternative history webquest regarding the cold war and the possibility of a nuclear holocaust. We would like to incorporate films such as Crimson Tide, Dr. Strangelove, and Thirteen Days to give food for thought and compliment links to primary source materials to complete one's understanding of the background information.

Teacher Introduction

This webquest is aimed at interesting students in the Cold War by letting them learn and create their own histories at the same time.  Students will get the opportunity to research actual historical events, people and things in order to create their Cold War narrative.   Students will be required to work individually, however, student collaboration is welcome and encouraged.  If you chose, pick a few exemplary papers to share with the class or students can share them within a small group.  This webquest does warn that strict teacher observations be made while students are on the computer.  This webquest includes clips from youtube and some material on this website might be deemed inappropriate.  Therefore, make sure that you have a close eye on their web research activities.  Hope you enjoy the activity, you are sure to get some very interesting stories!
