Teacher Process
The teacher will instruct his/her students to go online and view some clips from Crimson Tide, Dr. Strangelove, and 13 Days. These clips are provided on youtube, however, make sure that students are carefully watched because there are inappropriate clips on this website. The purpose of this being to get some creative thoughts going. Also, be aware that even though most these suggested clips do not contain violent explicit material, some do contain explicit language. If parental approval is required make sure that permission slips are sent home before any research is done.
Secondly, teachers will have students research online actual historical events, people or things, that are provided by this webquest. This is in order to have students base their narratives on concrete historical fact. This process can be done during class for one period and then completed at home. This can be done the same day as the above mentioned research.
The next day in class have students write a rough draft. This rough draft will be looked over by the teacher as well as a couple of their classmates.
Lastly, give two more nights at home, once they have had some feedback on their narrative, to complete the final draft.
This project should take only a week; two days in class and two at home, the fifth being the day to share with the class.
