Introductions to, a review of and lessons on "HOW TO" do the following will be reviewed prior to beginning your Tier II project:
- Downloading and using the documents/spreadsheets in this web quest
- Printing to a network printer
- Proofreading
- Internet Research / Smart Searching
- Business Math
- Downloading/using a template
- Marketing Essentials
- Using PowerPoint as an effective presentation tool
- Other requirements as deemed appropriate or necessary based on individual need
Step 1 ~ Name of Agency Business
What is a good name for your agency? Your job title is AGENT. Brainstorm a name for your agency. A logo may be created for your agency at this time if you choose.
Step 2 ~ Internet Research
Select a client you wish to represent. Research your client using the search engine of your choice. The information you gather will be used for steps in the future.
Compile into a Word document so you may easily return to for later use. Take notes electronically or by writing them down - but keeping electronic notes may be easier for you by simply 'copying' and 'pasting'. This will be especially beneficial when copying pictures to use.
This will be information you find to explain WHO your client is. You may choose to use the sample resources included here:
Look for biographical, financial, statistical, graphics, interesting facts and any other information you feel pertinent to your topic and client.
Save all images, files, and notes.
Step 3 ~ "Rap Sheet"
Open Word and name the file "Rap Sheet." Sample Rap Sheet Here. Insert your client's information to best display all pertinent information in a neat, orderly way. Design your document to capture the highlights of your client's career. You may insert graphics or any other creative spark to catch attention.
This 'rap sheet' is like a profile page for your client. Be sure to save.
Print a FINAL COPY after you proofread on your screen.
Step 4 ~ Resume
Open Professional Resume Sample.doc or Resume.doc template (or go to the Microsoft download website linked below) and tailor information to suit your client's needs.
Save as RESUME to your OT Project folder. Be prepared to do more research on the Internet to fill in all appropriate sections of the resume.
Print a FINAL COPY after your proofread.
Step 5 ~ Excel Graph
You will create a graph (pie, bar, line or other) of your researched financial/statistical data.
Open Excel, save a new workbook as Client Statistics.
Depending on your client's role, you will organize your financial data into a structured format i.e. box office sales, CD sales, salary, RBIs, player statistics, team statistics, team name, height, weight, hair color, etc. Your spreadsheet will be individualized and you will set up figures and categories as you see fit for your client's field. Format to one page (if possible).
Print FINAL COPY after your proofread.
Step 6 ~ Marketing Materials ~ Brochure / Flyer
Create an original flyer/brochure or download a template from the website you were shown in Tier I. You may choose to use Publisher, Word or PowerPoint. Be sure to check the version you are downloading! We are currently using 2007!
Save as ClientBrochure.
Most businesses with any success have a highly recognizable logo and/or slogan where a customer quickly indentifies that logo or slogan with a company name. This is your opportunity to show off a logo and/or slogan that represents your agency. You may visit the Microsoft Office download center website to choose from various templates to work from.
You may format a newsletter, brochure, flyer or other original document.
Step 7 ~ Presentation
You will create a presentation to 'show off' your agency and inform the public (your class) about your client. Open PowerPoint.
Save as "Client Presentation" in your OT Project folder.
Include the following:
- Title Slide
- Introductory slide (used to catch your audience's attention - what you are going to focus on - sometimes created last)
- Detail Slides (include info about your client's past accomplishments, etc)
- Conclusion (how is YOUR client a star performer?)
- Graphics (from your 'graphics' folder downloaded from the Internet)
- Hyperlink to all projects you have created.
Things to remember:
- Rule of 6 (no more than 6 words per line or 6 lines per slide)
- CUPS
- Capitalization
- Usage
- Punctuation
- Sentence Structure
- Spelling
