Teacher Process
Many resources are available online to help teach children about the life cycle of animals. At your own leisure, discuss the what the animal life cycle is with your students.
When breaking students into teams, make sure the teams represent different learning styles and abilities. These teams are created to help the students learn to their abilities, promote teamwork, and to teach students what to look for in other's papers (peer editing).
The research on the teams animal life cycles can be done using the links provided, but students should be encouraged to consult other websites. Books and other resources can also be provided.
After the research is gathered, the students will write journal entries as if they were that animal, following through the life cycles. Encourage creativity and use examples of first person in order to show how the journal entries should look like. The Rubric provided will help when describing what you want to see in their journals.
Give the groups plenty of time to collaborate in order to create the life cycle pictures and peer edit.
